Kid Dami Drops Album Titled “In Oakland”
Time to take a little virtual road trip to Oakland y’all!
Kid Dami just dropped a brand new album titled, “In Oakland” and our team at New Minority is spilling all of the inside details.
The album features nine tracks in total, with features from artists such as Theresa Nguyen.
Dami was born and raised in SoCal and has always had an intense love for music, taking inspiration from iconic artists such as Michael Jackson, Kid Cudi, Kanye West, and Gorillaz.
“I've been making music for a lil’ over 4 years now. I started in 2016 with a pair of Apple headphones and a stolen beat off of YouTube” (Dami, 2020).
Dami told our team at New Minority that “In Oakland” tells his personal story and all the events that led up to the person that he is today.
He told us that, “I made the album to feel like a road trip, or car ride — the album itself is divided into three “acts”. The first act is about choosing a path and the hardships that come along with it. This is highlighted in the third track “Traffic Jam”. The second act is the exact opposite — it's all about vibing to the fullest extent of the law and enjoying the ride. Finally, the last act is the ending of the journey — specifically about taking a step back and viewing the whole picture” (Dami, 2020).
